E14 – ORPHEUS ISLAND TO DUNK ISLAND

Overcast and light winds…

Letting go the mooring at Orpheus Island into a calm but overcast sky we were forced to motor for the first hour or so. Not too long later though, we found a light headwind of around 8-10kts and decided I’d turn the stinky diesel engine off and try sailing for a bit. We had some great sailing for a few hours, but eventually it became obvious there was no way we’d make it to our planned destination of Dunk Island for the night, so eventually, the iron top sail was reluctantly brought back into service.

Starlight found some space among a few other yachts anchored not too far off the beach at Dunk Island right before sunset. We spent a calm, relaxed night there with fresh fish fried for dinner!
