E17 – LOW ISLES TO HOPE ISLAND
Rolly night at Low Isles…
Arriving late in the day to the nearest anchorage to Port Douglas is probably not a great plan! We arrived and found ourselves the 15th boat trying to sneak some shelter from the dubious anchorage of the Lowe Isles. So a bit of a rolly night for us, but of course this is offset by the fact that my beautiful Thai wife (Tan) has cooked up fresh Spanish Mackeral for us!
After leaving Lowe Isles, we found a light but suitable breeze for a broad reach and meandered our way north along the far North Queensland Coast. The wind settled as the morning set in and we ended up mostly wing and wing down wind sailing in light winds.
Passing Cape Tribulation, I found it to be unremarkable from the surrounding coast line.
The wind slowly filled in as the afternoon wore on giving us a fine reach to Hope Island group.
