E61 – PORT DICKSON TO PANGKOR
Departing Admiral Marina.
After saying goodbye to Tan at the airport in Kuala Lumpur (She went home to Thailand to visit the family), I let go the lines and headed north with the intended destination of Pangkor.
I wasn’t expecting any breeze but was pleasantly surprised with an albeit, light breeze that I could use and motor sail at least easing my engine load and diesel usage. As it turned out I managed to use that little bit of wind right through the night as I dodged fishing vessels laying nets right in the shipping channel off Port Klang.
As the new day dawned, the wind dropped away and I reluctantly furled the sails to finish the passage under motor alone.
When I finally made my way into the bay at the southern end of Pangkor Island, I was pleasantly surprised with a gorgeous anchorage and beach. Although still a little rolly as the tide changed and the swell wrapped into the bay from the west, it was the best anchorage I had seen since well west of Batam in Indonesia.
