E73 – PENANG TO PANGKOR

Departing Straits Quay Marina

We left Straits Quay Marina in the very early morning to catch the tide movement south and on the last half of a falling tide, but with plenty of water for the exit and headed south down the Passage between Penang and Butterworth and under the two giant bridges connecting the two.

Once clear, we shaped course for a sail/motor south all day arriving at Pangkor around 2100 and anchored about 2100 after avoiding a couple of drift nets west of Pangkor on the approach to the anchorage. The Pangkor anchorage is rolly if there is any west component to the wind or swell, so be prepared for that, but the anchorage itself is beautiful.
