E76 – PULAU BESAR TO PUTERI HARBOUR

Sailing away from Pulau Besar

We started the morning with a sail out in light conditions, but the wind just wasn’t going to be enough to get us to Pulau Pisang before sunset, so the engine was reluctantly used again. We passed many fishing boats and nets along the way, but was not too difficult to navigate the way through.

Pulau Pisang

Arriving at Pulau Pisang before sunset, I had the choice to anchor on the south side or the north side again. This time I chose the north side which turned out to be a comfortable anchorage for the night and thunderstorms stayed away giving me some well earned rest from the thunderstorms the day before.

Next day, we wound our way along the inshore route to the Johor Passage between Malaysia and Singapore and about 100 anchored ships. There wasn’t a lot of shipping movement in the anchorages, away from the shipping lanes, so we just motored through like a boss 🙂

Puteri Harbor – Johor, Malaysia

Puteri harbor is a perfectly sheltered marina with great services and a reasonable price. We encountered a harbor side market on the night before our step off to Indonesia which allowed us to stock up on last minute street BBQ chicken for the freezer!
