E85 – JEPARA BEACH TO TANJUNG PIRING
After a brief stop at Jepara Beach ‘Marina’ to catch up with Chris and Gina and take on some known quality fuel at a good price, we headed just a short distance north to Tanjung Piring. We arrived in the day and no great difficulty threading our way through the fishing structures to find a great little anchorage offering flat calm water in a 20kt NW in about 4m of water.
Once anchored, I discovered that the mainsail car slide at the head of the sail had broken and we decided to return to Jepara and once again lean on Chris and his local expertise to see what could be done about it. In the end, he managed to get a beautifully welded aluminum repair for me, but then I discovered that removing the lower slides off the track and refitting them all would most likely result in the loss of all the bearings without the correct knowledge and the correct tools, so I decided to press on with out trying to refit the repaired car. Would that affect our sailing ? We really wouldn’t know until we saw some heavier conditions, but I felt confident I could manage it so we upped the anchor after a couple of days rest and headed north back to Tanjung Piring once more.
